What is Assisted Living?
Assisted living is a broad term encompassing a variety of care options. From live-in facilities to periodic domiciliary care, assisted living seeks to bridge the gap between 100 percent independent living and a nursing home. For seniors in need of help with daily living activities, assisted living is an attractive, affordable alternative to constant care. However, it is not a replacement for nursing homes and should be treated as intermediate-level care.
Assisted living centers:
Residents who choose to reside in one of the thousands of assisted living centers around the country are unable to or do not wish to live independently, but do not require continual care either. Senior living communities offer two very appealing benefits; one is facilitated aid with menial tasks such as housekeeping, laundry, medication assistance, bathing, dressing, food options, and more; the second benefit to assisted living is that residents are able to retain a good amount of self-autonomy, maintaining a private or shared apartment home.
